For Students
Who want to accelerate your canopy navigation skills and land where you want to land, not where you have to land
SkydiVR uses virtual reality to simulate parachute flight that provides a realistic replication of parachute flight over the your actual dropzone in customizable wind conditions.
Unlike the status quo where you have to learn mostly by doing, SkydiVR enables you to practice under the supervision of a qualified instructor to collect relevant information during canopy flight and practice making wise canopy navigation decisions
Summary
skydiVR-student provides your 2D portal into the 3D environment of flying your parachute with a live instructor
You need a Gamer level PC connected to good internet.
Mac users can either:
use a cloud based PC ($30 per month)
or install Parallels on their Mac to run Windows 10
No VR goggles needed, use your mouse to “look around” and your keyboard to steer your virtual parachute
Using skydiVR-student, at the scheduled time you join a call with your instructor and login into their PC to fly your virtual parachute
A record of learning of each lesson will be provided to you.

Overview of your online lessons with a live instructor:
DZ selected with agreement from student, intro on how to use the software, steer the parachute, how to “look around”. First jump is in nil winds, most common landing pattern, holding area, downwind, base, final. Aircraft & airport operation fundamentals.
Most common landing pattern, ideal to medium winds with good spot
Second most common landing direction, not a good spot, mild winds, holding, crabbing, running, other canopies, intro to flying in brakes and braked turns, identifying areas of turbulence (other canopies and ground obstacles)
Most common landing direction, medium winds different from forecasted winds, other canopies, consolidation of holding, crabbing, running, braked turns skills
Bad spot, most common landing direction, assess canopy performance to landing area and possible alternate landing points, get back entering the traffic pattern low, other canopies, how to recognize and avoid turbulent landings due to wind
Landing off procedure (nil winds), points to assess for when selecting where to land off
Landing off consolidation (variable winds), with other canopies
Land off with crosswind approach and other canopies
